「大宗師。是謂無狀之狀，無象之象，是謂忽怳。迎之不見其首，隨之不見其後。(Describe it as form yet unformed, as shape that is still without shape; or say it is vagueness confused. One meets it and it has no front. One follows and there no rear.) 」(老子第十四章)
「執古之道，以御今之有。能知古始，是謂道紀。(If you hold ever fast to that most ancient Way, you may govern today. Call truly that knowledge of primal beginnings , the clue to the Way) 書呆子。」(老子第十四章)
「大宗師。知者當言。」
「書呆子。有何不可？故知止其所不知，至矣。(Knowledge is at its peak when it stops with what it does know.
